The New NEXUS of ID Management

A NEXUS IS “a link, a joining, a connected series or group.” All those definitions aptly fit RSA Security Inc.’s latest identity and access management strategy. The comprehensive strategy includes an integrated architecture, new products and strategic alliances that enable customers to better manage digital identities throughout their companies.

At the heart of the strategy is NEXUS, a new identity management system that moves all of RSA Security’s solutions to a single platform. NEXUS — an approach that company officials call unique in the industry — is designed to provide the foundation for all future RSA Security enterprise products. (Recent releases already include NEXUS components.) For customers, NEXUS offers reliable, comprehensive identity management capabilities that integrate seamlessly into existing e-business environments. At the same time, NEXUS uses a modular approach. That means customers can choose the solutions they need today and easily add in other RSA Security and strategic partner products down the road.

That ’s all good news to Wachovia Corp. “We need to efficiently and cost-effectively manage the multiple digital identities of our diverse user bases,” including employees, partners and customers, says Tony Suarez, vice president and manager of PKI and Encryption Key Management for the Charlotte, North Carolina-based financial giant. Suarez expects NEXUS-based solutions to help Wachovia strike the perfect balance between user convenience and system security. RSA Security strategic partners — including Citrix Systems, Inc.; Funk Software, Inc.; NetScreen Technologies, Inc.; Neoteris, Inc.; and Sun Microsystems, Inc. — expect similar benefits. Janine Roth, vice president of business development at NetScreen, says, “Our alliance with RSA Security allows us to empower joint customers with a highly interoperable and functional solution that can reduce administrative burden and bolster productivity.”
